A young under-indebted man commits suicide in Indore
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 23-year-old in debt allegedly committed suicide by consuming a toxic substance in Indore on Tuesday evening, sources said.
The lender reportedly threatened the youngster with serious consequences because he had not paid a deposit, sources added.
Police registered one case and began further investigation into it.
The youth identified as Rahul Patel, a resident of Labaria Bheru worked as a tailor. While facing a financial crisis, he borrowed 50,000 rupees from a pawnshop identified as Bharti Kanjar at 20% interest.
Family members claimed that Rahul paid Kanjar 10,000 rupees every month. But, he did not pay the deposit for September because he suffered a loss in the business.
Kanjar went to Rahul’s home on Tuesday and threatened him with serious consequences.
The deceased’s younger brother, Rakesh, told media that his brother consumed a toxic substance late at night. When he started to vomit, the family took him to MY hospital, where he died during treatment.
Police said statements from family members have yet to be recorded.
